All-Metro lacrosse players Casey Ancarrow and Allyson Carey, who led John Carroll to last spring's IAAM A Conference title, are expected to sign national letters of intent to play their sports at James Madison and Vanderbilt, respectively, on Wednesday when the NCAA's November early signing period begins.

St. Frances basketball player Sean Mosley, a three-time All-Metro selection, and Loyola lacrosse attackman Steele Stanwick,  the reigning All-Metro Player of The Year, will sign on Wednesday to play their respective sports at the universities of Maryland and Virginia.

Also expected to sign is First-team All-Metro girls basketball player Danielle Parker of Dulaney, who is headed for the University of Delaware.

In swimming, Fallston's Courtney Kalisz, an Olympic hopeful in the 200-butterly and other events, will sign with Southern California.

High school seniors may sign national letters of intent accepting athletic scholarships from NCAA institutions during the November early signing period, which begins on Wednesday and lasts through Nov. 21.

The November signing period includes most sports, such as basketball, lacrosse, baseball, golf, softball, swimming and wrestling.

DigitalSports lists all of the athletes who are committing to schools for sports whose early signing period has been designated for November, regardless of whether or not the institution is division I, II or III, or whether or not it offers athletic scholarships.

Many division I and division II schools participate in the signing of national letters of  intent.

However,  America's service academies, such as Navy and West Point, and Ivy League Schools, such as Princeton, and Harvard, do not offer scholarships or participate in the practice.

Some Patriot League schools also do not participate in the early signing program.

Sports such as football, field hockey and soccer have their own signing period in February.

The early signing periods in track and field and for cross country have been eliminated, and water polo also no longer has an early signing period, according to www.national-letter.org.
