Choate Rosemary Hall cemented a New England title on March 1 as the girls'
swimming & diving team dominated the championship meet at Deerfield Academy,
posting 328 points, comfortably ahead of second-place Hopkins School (279) and
third-place Andover (273).
"It's been a couple of decades since the Wild Boars won a New England title
in this sport, though we have earned a slew of Founders League and Western New
England crowns in recent years," observed athletic director Ned Gallagher.
"We've finished second in the New Englands on both the girls' and boys' sides of
the program more times than I can count in the past dozen years, so it was a
thrill to see it all come together for our girls, especially after they
weathered some disappointments earlier in the season. They really saved their
best for last. Congratulations to Sara Massa, Todd Currie, Ben Small and all the
coaches and, of course, to the swimmers and divers themselves. It was a terrific
season!"
