North Players Lend LL Support

The Board of Directors of the Terre Haute North Little League would like to express sincere appreciation to the Terre Haute North High School baseball team and Coach Shawn Turner for their assistance in preparing our ballpark for its 2008 season.

On Saturday, March 22, in cold and sometimes wet conditions, the players from Terre Haute North along with Coach Turner and his family came to our ballpark and assisted the many board members and team representatives in clearing brush, picking up trash and leaves, hauling items to the dumpster and working on the fields and pitching mounds.

They did all this after beginning their day at 7 a.m. for their breakfast fundraiser, finalizing their discount card fundraiser sales, working on their own fields at North High School and then having practice. All before 1 p.m. Then they came to our fields and continued to work as if it was their own. For many, that was true. A large portion of the North baseball team had its beginning at this exact Little League ballpark.

Many players made comments while remembering their days at the park. Some took notice of the significant changes that have taken place over the last several years, while others pointed out where they hit their first home run over the left field fence.

The board would like to thank Coach Turner (his family) and the players of the 2008 Terre Haute North High School baseball team for their unselfish support of their community and the hundreds of Little League players that will one day hope to play at North High School as well.

Again thanks for support, and good luck with your upcoming season.
