(Game Played Saturday, April 19, 2008) – TERRE HAUTE, IN

DEFENSE IMPROVES, PATRIOTS DROP TIGHT GAME TO THE WILDCATS

Junior J.T. Bailey threw 68 pitches in a complete game 2-1 loss for the Patriots versus the Lawrence North Wildcats in game two of the MIC doubleheader between the two schools. His totals included 2 earned runs, 5 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. An additional plus for the Patriots was an error-free game that has been desperately longed for throughout the early stages of the 2008 campaign.

Offensively, Terre Haute North was led by seniors Joe Meggs (2-for-4, rbi) and Brandon Dorsett (1-for-3), juniors Michael Eberle and Jared Eller (both 1-for-3) and Nick Pilipovich (1-for-3, bb, run, stolen base), and sophomore Andrew Gauer (1-for-3). Unfortunately, the Patriots were 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position on the day in the nail-biter. Eight runners were also left stranded.

Right fielder Clint Seefeldt of Lawrence North hit a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the third inning which proved to be the difference in the ballgame.

Next up for the Northsiders (5-7 overall and 2-3 in the MIC) is a home game versus the undefeated Rockville Rox (9-0) Monday evening beginning at 7pm at Patriot Field.
