South Lakes Defeats Woodson 12-9

Down 9-6 in the top of the 7th inning at Woodson, the South Lakes Seahawks could sense that this again was not their night.  But then a glimpse of the future shined brightly for Seahawks, when freshmen Wilfredo Corps-Ortiz (1B), Wes Casson (BB), and sophomore Kevin Ball (3B) initiated a six run explosion which led to a victory for the young team.  Designated hitter Ball tripled in two runs, and then later scored to tie the game.  Then, senior catcher Scott Reed (2 for 4, BB, 3B, 2 RBI) hammered a triple to right with two men on, and then later scored to make it 12-9.  Freshman pitcher/3B Will Sweet, who came in to relieve senior starter Ian Hostetler in the 6th, came back in the bottom of the 7th and fanned three Cavaliers to get the win.  Also powering the Seahawks on offense were junior second baseman Jon Baamonde (3 for 5, 2 RBI) and senior outfielder Noah Sweet (3 for 5, 2B).  Senior first baseman Paul Kirchner drew four walks on the night.  Hoping to build on a high note, the Seahawks return home for a key matchup against Langley Monday night.
