100m Hurdles
Junior
Karissa Herrick of Colts Neck took home fourth place with a time of
15.90 while senior Tanika Peart of Freehold Township finished fifth
with 16.60. Danae Wise, a junior from North Brunswick, won the event
with a time of 14.95,
200m
Last
weekend’s Shore Conference winner, junior Ada Unachukwu
of Marlboro, finished just shy of a repeat performance Saturday afternoon
when she was edged out by Jackson Memorial’s sophomore Tylia Gillon.
Gillion finished with a time of 25.4, tying the meet record set in 1986
by Gaill Giddens of Metuchen, while Unachukwu came in right behind her
with 25.41.
“I
did my best. You can always do better, but I think I gave it my all,”
Unachukwu said. “I like competition, it makes you get your best times
and try harder.”
Jackson
Memorial rounded out the fourth- and sixth-place spots when senior Samantha
Brady clocked in at 26.16 and junior Natasha Durant with a 27.10.
3200m
Senior
Allison Linnell of Colts Neck took home first place in the 3200m run.
Linnell, who placed first in the 1600m run on Friday, said she was a
little tired from the previous day. “I was just trying to win and
qualify for next week,” Linnell said.
4x400m Relay
Jackson
Memorial’s Chanel Rogers, Natasha Durant, Brittany Lombardo and Tylia
Gillion took home a second-place finish with a time of 4:03.32. Old
Bridge placed first with 4:02.22 and Hillsborough placed third with
4:06.18.
Shot Put
Brick
Township took the first- and second-place spots in this event Saturday
afternoon. Senior DeAnne Hahn captured first with 45-11.50 and junior
Lisa Stuto placed second with 42-03.75. Jackson Memorial rounded out
the top three spots when junior Shannon Watt marked 41-04.75. Watt had
taken home first-place honors last weekend during the Shore Conference
finals, beating out Hahn, who took second.
Long Jump
Ryisha
Boyd, a senior from Brick Township, captured first place with a mark
of 17-11.50, edging out fellow Shore Conference competitor Desiree Reese
of Freehold Township, who scored 17-11.00. Boyd also won first place
in this even last weekend during the Shore Conference track finals.
High Jump
Four
out of six medal spots were filled by Shore Conference jumpers, but
first place went to freshman Fiona Paladino from Montgomery who cleared
5-04. Meghan Donovan, a senior from Freehold Township placed second
and sophomore Maggie Gilbertson of Howell placed third. They both cleared
5-02, but Donovan was able to do so in fewer attempts. Freshman Tiffany
Agalaba of Colts Neck tied for fourth place and junior Kelsey Lewis
of Middletown North finished in sixth, both clearing a height of 5-00.
Team Results
Jackson
Memorial finished in second place overall with 68 points and Brick Township
came in third with 54 points overall. Neither team effort was enough
for Montgomery, who took home first place honors with a total of 72
points.
