These folks listed below know their football. Heck, if you need to know short sleeves or long sleeves; paper or plastic; hold 'em or fold 'em or if you are simply missing a navy blue sock from 2003 ... these are your go-to experts! I'm not saying they are mind readers but some of their picks are down right scary!

Congrats and thanks for playing ...

2008 Season

A doubleplay for the baseball Bulldogs as Stone Bridge varsity baseball coach Sam Plank and Bulldog JV baseball coach Jason Treon both win in Week 2.

Well, Potomac Falls High School boys hoops coach Jeff Hawes finally notched his first You Pick'Em victory, calling Stone Bridge 34-24 over West Springfield, which was good enough to beat out his Assistant AD Chris Tully who had 49-21 and long-time You Pick'Em player Bob Buckman, who had 35-21. Hawes darn near won the Briar Woods game but Tully was almost exactly on the money, calling 27-14 Briar Woods over Millbrook when the final was 27-13. It won't make Tully feel any better that the Pioneer missed extra point actually doinked (is that a word?) off the right upright! We don't want Hawes to get too big of a head with his win ... after all, he has now simply tied his young son Hayden for bragging rights in You Pick'Em as Hayden won last season.

2007 Season

It really was Stone Bridge's day Saturday as the Bulldogs crushed Potomac 38-0 to win the AAA Division 5 state title. A lot of you saw SB winning but, fittingly, SB assistant football coach Jason Treon called the big win but even he thought the Panthers would get some scores. Treon's 42-13 final was good enough to edge Mike Baker's 42-14 call. Treon, our contest's all-time leader, now has eight career wins!

Well it has come down to this ... LPS Editor/Owner Dan Sousa's second grader, Ryder Sousa, decided that if a first grader can win You Pick'Em so can he and he did, tying with Jane Baker last week with both picking SB 34-24 ... very close to the 38-24 final. It must have been a sweet victory for Baker after she had to hear Phoebus fans say all week on the message boards how SB would lose. As for Ryder ... upon learning he won: he danced around the "world headquarters" of LPS and then demanded to be taken to the  LPS "prize van".

Jeff Hawes has been trying to win You Pick'Em all season but he will have to settle for his son, Hayden Hawes, winning last week with his 31-20 SB over Edison pick. Close enough to the 27-14 final. It was a tough week for locals in the other game but Tim Lieb's 31-14 Sherando guess was closest to the shocking 38-0 final. Tim now ties for No. 3 all-time with five total victories.

Congrats!

Winners ... we got winners! Many winners! Ryan Rogers and Chris Tully tie for the win on the PV-BR pick (Rogers had PV 14-7 and Tully 21-14, both close to the 16-12 final); Trevor Scales is a first-time winner with his 49-17 SB pick in the Bulldogs 49-29 win; and Patrick McNanley is another first time winner with his 28-24 Millbrook pick over BW, within one point of the 27-24 final.
More picks then ever in our contest but that didn't stop Jason "The Oracle" Treon from becoming our all-time leader with his seventh win overall and his fifth win of this season. Treon had BR 20-14, just a point off the Spartans 21-14 victory over PW. Close behind were Patrick McNanley (21-17), Jeff Hawes (21-18), Bob Buckman (17-14), Walter McCowat (17-14) and Sue McDonald (16-14).

Seriously, when does basketball season start out in the Valley?!? Yes, Jamie Eberly from Turner Ashby has become a two-time winner. He had PV winning 36-18 over Heritage which was pretty dang close to the 33-15 final.

We knew it was only a matter of time and now Jason Treon has tied John Koren as our all-time leader with six wins. Jason called the LC win over Freedom at 31-21 and the final was 43-26.

Greg Dawson of Sterling and long-time area football Kathy Athey share the win for the Park View low-scoring 17-7 win over BW as Dawson had PV 16-13 and Athey had the Pats 17-14 ... both of those were within seven points. That is a second win for Athey as she won in 2006. Also, chalking up win No. 2 was Ryan Price as he had SB winning 27-14, good enough to call the 27-7 victory.

Jamie Eberly of Harrisonburg becomes our first "out-of-towner" to win You Pick'Em but Eberly knows his stuff as he was named over the summer as the new Turner Ashby varsity boys basketball coach. He had PV winning 30-14 and that was close enough as the average PV score among our pickers was 37 points!

Ryan Rogers is back as he and Steven Balik (LPS's very own blogger from Park View!) tied for one game, with Rogers picking BR 21-13 and Balik taking 20-14 ... both of those picks were off by a total of seven points. Rogers becomes our sixth all-time multiple winner. And speaking of multiple winners, Jason Treon shows why he is second all-time, with five total victories, as he hit the Briar Woods 35-14 final over Dominion right on the button. That is three wins this season for Treon and puts him one shy of John Koren's all-time record six.

Tim Lieb, a three-time winner from 2006, is back in the winner's circle as he ties newcomer Andrew Berdahl, who we think is a student and might be our youngest winner ever! Both were within seven points of picking the Broad Run 21-15 win over Briar Woods. Lieb had 27-14 and Berdahl had 23-20.

Jason Treon is fit to be tied as he and Marco Mastrangelo both pick Stone Bridge 42-7 which is close enough to the 49-7 win over Valley to take the contest.

Ryan Rogers: For "Ryan Aloud" ... another week, another "Ryan" winner! Rogers this week and not Price (who was almost right) ... Rogers picked 34-7 and the final was 35-0.

Ryan Price: The Freedom golf coach/Heritage baseball coach is a first-time winner: He forecasted Forest Park 40-17 over Loudoun Valley and the final was 40-28 FP. Wow! Not a hole-in-one but at least an Eagle for the Eagle coach.

Jason Treon joins Tim Lieb and Chuck McDaniel as a 3-time winner with his prediction of a big PV win: His forecast was 35-13 and the final was 37-7.

Chris Tully of Ashburn (our first ever winner is again hot to start; 4th victory total): He predicted Briar Woods 27-12 and the final was Briar Woods 28-13.
