Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I register my son or daughter for sports?
A: You must complete all the paperwork and hand them in on the registration dates. All forms and dates can be found on the school website.
Q: Does the team practice daily and over holidays?
A: The team is expected to practice everyday expect for Sunday. Games are scheduled throughout the entire season including summer, winter, and spring break. Each player is expected to be at all team practices and games. It is the choice he or she made when they signed up for the program.
Q: Are there admission prices for the games?
A; Yes, admission will apply for all games held in the gym and stadium (also, Reisterstown Regional Park). Admission is also charged for Junior Varsity games. Season passes are available at a discounted price.
Q: Does my son or daughter have to ride the bus home?
A: It is expected for all players to ride the bus home. The only exceptions are for administratively approved excuses. Each coach can override administrative approval if they feel fit. To gain approval, each player must have a written note that is submitted to the main office a few days in advance of the contest.
Q: Is transportation provided for all away games?
A: Unfortunately, due to the price of buses and the limited budget of the athletic department we are unable to provide busing for all games. Some games that are within a couple of miles will require teams to provide their own means of transportation. This of course can only be done with parental consent.
Q: Can we miss practice or a game for a club team or recreation practice or event?
A: The first priority is to the Franklin Athletic team that is in season. Any conflict that causes one to miss a practice or a game is grounds for removal from the Franklin program. This also applies to any injury one may have in a conflicting club or recreation event.
Q: What happens if something is stolen from my son or daughter in the locker room?
A; Franklin High School is not responsible for any stolen items. We encourage all students not to bring valuables to school. Most teams have team locker rooms that are required to be locked. There is no guarantee to prevent theft. If it does occur, please contact the coach immediately so that he or she can take the proper procedures with the administrative staff.
Q: Are parents and spectators allowed to be at practice?
A: No, all practices are closed to the public.
Q: How do I find out if a game has been cancelled or postponed?
A: We encourage everyone to go to the Digital Sports website. It will have the up to the minute updates, stats, and schedules. http://www.digitalsports.com/school/id/9580.aspx
Q: Where can we find out about college recruiting and NCAA information?
A: We encourage you to use our college recruiting program found on Franklin High School’s official school website. http://franklinhs.bcps.org/ There you can find out about everything pertaining to college athletics under the NCAA Information link.
Q: How long is practice?
A: All practices are to be no longer than 2 hours. Sometimes it will take longer due to team meetings, equipment cleanup, and the use of the locker room.
Q: When does a physical exam expire?
A: Each physical exam is good for one year to the date of the exam. After that date, each student must have another physical or they can not participate.
