Chapter 1: Introduction

So
straight up, I didn’t get NEARLY as much feedback on this as I would
have liked. And that’s why I didn’t check back with a new poll a week
after the first was released. I was waiting to hear more from y’all!

C’mon people, you don’t care about your rivalries!!! Sheesh.

Anyways, I did get some feedback (mostly verbal comments when I was at games or events) that I will adhere to.

1.    Seneca Valley vs. Damascus – Football
2.    Magruder vs. Sherwood – Boys Basketball
3.    Wootton vs. Churchill – Boys Lacrosse
4.    Churchill vs. Walter Johnson – Swimming

5.    Paint Branch vs. Blake – Girls Basketball
I
actually think I had this one on the list originally but removed it and
I can’t remember the reason. Anyways, Paint Branch AD Jeff Sullivan
reminded me how heated the PB-Blake rivalry is and I chose girls
basketball as the hottest because these are two powerhouse programs in
the 3A and 4A respectively. Their regular season game at Paint Branch
was nearly sold out this year, which is quite an accomplishment for
girls basketball.

6.    Whitman vs. Walter Johnson – Boys Lacrosse
7.    Magruder vs. Churchill – Boys Soccer
8.    Quince Orchard vs. Damascus – Field Hockey
9.    Whitman vs. Sherwood – Wrestling

10.    Poolesville vs. Clarksburg – Anything
This
one was added thanks to wonderful feedback from a Mr. Patton. As he
explained, when Clarksburg opened the school it also snatched
Poolesville’s athletic director, football coach, track coach, boys
lacrosse coach and just last year the girls lacrosse coach. That’s not
to mention all the talent the school has absorbed from other schools.
When that happens things can go from “shaky to downright heated,” Mr. Patton said.
And for a closing argument he included.
“Clarksburg with their hideous Carolina blue. Enough said.”

Got a problem with this version??? LET ME KNOW! We’ll check back with this later…
