Hotchkiss Track & Field traveled up to Andover this past weekend to
compete at the New England Championship. The girls finished an impressive second
while the boys blew the competition away and earned their second New England
title in three years. Hotchkiss athletes Faimie-Rose Kingsley ’09 and Alex
Amidon ’10 both received top honors when they were voted as the MVPs of the
meet. This is the second year in a row that the championship MVPs have gone to
two Hotchkiss athletes. Brittany Bell ’09 and Alex Amidon were the recipients
last year.
One of the most prolific and successful athletic programs in recent Hotchkiss
history has been the Track & Field team. Head Coach Richard Kirby along with
his coaching staff has been blessed with tremendous athletes who have excelled
at the highest level in all of New England. The girls' program has won three
Founders League Championships since 2006 and has finished in the top three of
New England for four consecutive years. The boys have amassed five straight
undefeated regular seasons (51-0), two Founders League Championships and two New
England Championships since spring 2005. This year was similar to the 2007
season as the boys finished unbeaten in the regular season and were crowned
Founders League Champions as well as New England Champions.
The Hotchkiss boys, en route to their second New England title in three
years, earned 135.50 points, almost 40 points higher than Andover, which came in
second with 99 points. There were many terrific performances throughout the day.
