The Division II Track
and Field Championships were held at the Williston Northampton School on
Saturday, May 16. Suffield entered the meet as one of the favorites, and they
lived up to expectations. With a victory in the final relay of the day, Suffield
edged Cushing Academy 81-80 in the final standings.
The Tigers were led
by Kyle Vigneault '09, who earned top individual honors as the Most Valuable
Male Athlete of the meet. Kyle placed first in the 400m, fourth in the 200m, and
anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay. Over the past three years Kyle has
collected 7 New England titles, and this marks the third consecutive year that
Kyle has anchored the New England Champion 4x400 relay.

individual performances included:
Tommy Uszakiewicz '10 - 4th in the 100m,
6th in the 200m
Joe Pugliano '09 - 4th in the 400m

'11 - 4th in the 800m, 5th in the 1500m
Matt Blakeley '09 - 6th in
the 1500m
Kohei Hotta '10 - 5th in the long jump, 6th in the triple
jump
James Roukas '09 - 3rd in the shot put, 5th in the
discus
Roshard Bryant '09 - 4th in the discus
Shane Cranmore '10 - 1st in the javelin
Michael Budness '11 - 3rd in the
javelin
In addition to scoring in a number of individual events, Suffield
dominated the relays by winning the 4x100 and the 4x400. The team of Michael
Budness '11, Tommy Uszakiewicz '10, Joe Pugliano '09, and Kyle Vigneault '09 won
the 4x100, and the team of Joe Pugliano '09, Tommy Uszakiewicz '10, Lester
Taylor '11, and Kyle Vigneault '09 cruised to victory in the 4x400.
