Pendleton Heights led a clean sweep of the top three spots by Hoosier Heritage Conference teams at its own sectional Tuesday evening. The Arabians edged Yorkttown by five points 125-120 for the team title. Mt. Vernon, which contested for the title most of the evening, finished third with 111 points. Of course, the night was highlighted by the state record performance of Ellie McCardwell in the pole vault. The Pendleton Heights junior soared 13’5” which is a national best this year.

The three HHC teams will meet up with conference rival Delta at the Ben Davis Regional. The Eagles scored a team total of 93.2 points in finishing third at the Muncie South Sectional. All of the league teams will need to step up their performances in the next round. The host Giants are the #9 ranked team in Indiana.

 

New Palestine, Greenfield-Central, and Shelbyville already got a taste of the high caliber competition. Those schools faced Warren central and Franklin Central in the Shelbyville Sectional field. They posted very respectable performances. New Palestine was fourth with 73.5 points while Shelbyville and Greenfield-Central tied for fifth with 47 points.

 

Finally, Rushville finished fourth in the Connersville Sectional with a total of 59.5 points. Individual results from all of the sectionals that included Hoosier Heritage teams can be found on the state pages of Hoosier Authority.
