Staff Report

It was not as close as the score indicates, but it was an exercise in senior leadership. Zionsville fell to Homestead in the Fort Wayne Semi-State 3-2 ending the Eagles’ season. Homestead The suburban Fort Wayne school went on to whitewash Anderson Highland in the final and advance to the state finals.

The match was actually decided rather quickly. Homestead won the first three contests at #1 singles, #2 singles, and #1 doubles. However, the Zionsville seniors were not ready to end their careers. Eileen Dinnin and Lauren Dunn rallied to win in three sets at #2 doubles and so did Lauren Formulak at #3 singles. It was a classy way to end careers that have been marked by community service and competitive pride.
