SAC U-11 Girls Select
After a 2nd place finish in Hampden’s Memorial Day tournament, the u-11 girls select team competed in the Mid-Atlantic Cup at Germantown. The girls had another strong showing with great performances in all three contests. Saturday resulted in 5-1 and 3-1 victories over the MSI Challengers and Crofton Strikers respectively. Sunday the girls lost 3-2 in a very hard fought contest against the Damascus Mustangs. In perhaps the girls’ best 30 minute performance of the year, they rallied furiously from a 3-0 halftime deficit behind wonderful creativity and tenacity on the offensive end and a gutsy defense that shut down Damascus’ attack throughout the second half. Coach Mike Kalinock was incredibly proud of the teams’ effort and development throughout the 2008-2009 seasons.
