Purcellville (July 2, 2009) - Loudoun Valley High School volleyball and softball standout Haley Grabner was recently named the Vikings Female Athlete of the Year and the graduated senior will play softball next year at Appalachian State.
Grabner helped the Loudoun Valley volleyball team make it to the AAA state quarterfinals in the fall and then in the spring she was instrumental in the Vikings run to the AAA state title game.
She graduates Valley after four years on varsity in softball and two in volleyball. The all-district, all-region volleyball player also did well in the classroom with an incredible 4.59 grade point average her senior year to finish with a 3.89 overall GPA.
Grabner, a captain this season, hit .400, was a sparkplug on the bases with her speed and patrolled center field without any errors. Grabner had several key catches in the Vikings state semifinal win over South County.
She will be playing softball at NCAA Division I Appalachian State starting in the fall as a preferred walk-on. Grabner was also recruited and offered by Florida Southern and Winthrop but chose Appalachian State.
