CARDINALS MOVE INTO FIRST WITH 14.5-6.5 WIN OVER GAELS

Mac DeFries, Casey Taylor and Sean Kump led Calvert Hall to a 14.5 - 6.5 win over Mount Saint Joe at the Rolling Road Golf Course on Wednesday to move into first place in the MIAA-A Conference with a 5-1 record. Archbishop Spalding held the lead coming into
the day at 4-0, but the Cavaliers lost to St. Paul's, 13.5 to 7.5.

Teams play a twleve hole match, and can win as many as 18 overall points.  Six individual matches are played, and players can win 3
overall points; the front six, back six, and overall twelve.  At Rolling Road, par for  twelve holes is 35.  DeFries, Taylor and Kump all
won three points for the Cards.

"I putted well and hit the ball well today," said DeFries, who plays #1 for the Cardinals The senior shot one under on the day.

Taylor  was only two over par  "I kept the ball in play, and only missed two fairways," said the freshman, who plays #4 for Coach Bernie McGinn, now in his seventh year leading the Hall.
