Trailing by three points entering the final quarter, the Sheridan
girls’ basketball team outscored Clinton Central 14-6 in the fourth to
post a 46-41 win in the season finale. Under first-year coach Jeff Guenther, the Blackhawks went 9-11 in the regular season.
“It was a real
struggle all night,” said Guenther. “The kids battled and competed
hard. We got a couple stops (in the fourth) and made it hard from them
to score. We were able to get a couple buckets.” Acacia Scott hit a pair of free throws to give Sheridan a two-possession lead late in the game.Linden Daiss led the Blackhawks with 11 points while Jaime Grimes added 10. Sheridan faces county foe Guerin Catholic in the Oak Hill Sectional at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
