        It was a day of broken records at the Monmouth County Boys Swimming Championships, with four individual and two relay records broken.
    Middletown North junior Greg Daniele broke two of those records, in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 butterfly. He swam the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:43.77, and the 100 butterfly in 51.49, almost two seconds faster than the record set the year before by CBA’s Martin Harm. The second-place finisher in that event, Eddie Carnes of Monmouth Regional, took first place in the 100 yard backstroke for the second year in a row, in a time of 53.64.
    Connor Jaeger, the sophomore from Rumson-Fair Haven, did not go without notice either. Jaeger won the 200 IM in 1:59.53, and then took the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:38.93, nearly 22 seconds in front of second-place finisher Andrew Dennis of Shore Regional. Despite being sick earlier this week, Jaeger broke the 500 freestyle record as well.
    As for Christian Brothers Academy, the Colts took their 18th straight Monmouth County Championship, propelled by wins from Harm and Harrison Cefalo, and sweeping the relay events.  Harm won the 50 freestyle in a record-breaking time of 21.49, in front of last year’s champion, Red Bank Regional’s Taylor Gledhill, who again won the 100 freestyle this year. Cefalo took the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.18.  Besides winning all three relays, CBA set records in two of them. Alex Fitton, Cefalo, Terry Hubert and Harm broke the 200 medley record in a time of 1:41.27, a tenth of the second faster than the previous record. It was again Harm, Charlie Pataffi, Hubert, and TJ McCarthy highlighting the record books with a new one in the 200 freestyle relay.
    Daniele was named Swimmer of the Meet, voted on by the coaches in the county.
