     Wall outfielder Andrew Nowell hit a two-run homer for a four-run lead and also had a triple and his Wall teammate, Anthony Cinelli, added a triple as well to power Jersey Shore to a 6-3 win over Delaware South in the first round of the Carpenter Cup Classic at the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
     Jersey Shore will now face Lehigh Valley at 9 a.m. on Friday at the University of Pennsylvania in the quarterfinals. Toms River South junior Tyler Gebler tossed three scoreless innings, striking out four, and Manalapan junior righty Ryan Harvey only allowed one unearned run and struck out five in three innings to pick up the win. Gebler, Harvey, Shore's Rob Corsi and St. John Vianney's Kevin MacLachlan combined for 14 strikeouts in the game, and MacLachlan struck out three in the eighth and ninth combined to close out the win.
     Rumson-Fair Haven catcher Gary Costello also went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Toms River North's Steve Nyisztor added an RBI single for Jersey Shore. The game ended with a strikeout and then Jackson catcher Edgar Jennings picking off a runner at second base for a double play.
     "It was great seeing these guys come out and compete, and they jelled pretty well today to get the 'W''' said Rumson coach Kevin James, who is the head coach of the Jersey Shore team.
