Central Jersey Group I Boys

110m Hurdles

      Demetrius Barkely, a senior from Asbury Park, took home first place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.81. Sophomore teammate DaJan Oneal finished in sixth place with 15.96.

      “I felt alright. I banged my knee pretty hard in the trials,” Barkely said. “But I knew I had to make it to the finals. I was looking to win.”

      Barkely said the high level of competition in Monmouth County and Shore Conference helped prepare him for the event. 

200m

      Demetrius Barkely was the only runner of the Shore Conference to medal in this event for this sectional. He finished fifth with a time of 23.07. Dejuan Miller from Metuchen took home first place with 22.39. 

Javelin

      Sophomore Brian Thomson of Keyport placed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 150-03. He was the only boy in this sectional to medal from the Shore Conference. Chris Salaga of Florence took home first with 165-03. 

Discus

      Sophomore Brian Thomson of Keyport finished in third place after scoring 118-02 and junior Imane Crooms of Asbury Park launched the discus 113-04, a mark good enough for fourth place. Jonathan Allen of Florence captured first with a throw of 133-01.  

Triple Jump

      Demetrius Barkely was once again the only Shore Conference member of this sectional to medal in this event. He placed fourth with a score of 41-01.25. Bound Brook’s Deven Baker took first place honors with 44-04.50. 
 
 

Central Jersey Group I Girls

Shot Put

      Senior Bridget McCann of Keyport placed fourth with a score of 31-05.50. She was the only girl from the Shore Conference to medal in this event from this sectional. Mary Chismar of Middlesex took home first with 34-05.75.
