1. Southern " In case you couldn't tell, I had a funny feeling that this week's rankings would look nothing like last week's and it starts up top with the Rams" 19:28 average at Ocean County Park. Not too shabby considering how much Jillian Smith was holding back.
2. Red Bank Catholic " Not necessarily out of the top spot for long. Experience at Holmdel Park could provide the Caseys with an edge of Southern on Monday.
3. Colts Neck " Allie Flott's second-place finish in the JV race in New York last week slides her back into the Cougars" top seven after battling injury.
4. Howell " Not really much to say after a week off, is there?
5. Toms River North " At risk of sounding like a broken record, the Mariners top-five in a second-place Ocean County showing went junior, freshman, freshman, freshman, sophomore.
6. Monsignor Donovan " We have seen the Griffins near their best and, they hope, at their worst. Still has the potential to place top three in the state if things gets turned around.
7. Holmdel " By virtue of having 14 less students than Hopewell Valley, which just made the Group III cutoff, the Hornets have an excellent shot at a Central Jersey Group II title next Saturday.
8. Jackson " The Jags may not have the big bopper they have recently been able to throw on the line, but the pack is coming in under a minute apart.
9. Rumson-Fair Haven " The Bulldogs will try to challenge Holmdel in Central Jersey II.
10. Middletown North " The Lions join Howell and Monsignor Donovan as the only squads on this list with a strong senior presence, not an easy feat in this sport.
