You hear it all of the time when referring to a promising, young company, but it is true in Position Specifics' case.
It's getting better and better.
Over 100 campers came out to the first annual Performance Clinic at SCOR near Virginia Union University.
Even more schools were represented.
George Wythe made a big apperance in numbers. Mills Godwin came out. Highland Springs, Varina and Douglas Freeman are the usuals.
The counselors were top-notch as well. Former Virginia Tech star
Mike Crawford, Virginia Hornets coach
Clifford "Perk" Jefferson and PS'
Chad Blackstock and
Kevin Lewis shared their expertise.
They added in some youthful football minds in former Varina stars
Davon Morgan (Virginia Tech) and
Alan-Michael Cash (N.C. State), and former Highland Springs standout
Jim Davis (Virginia Tech, headed to Canadian Football League).
There was a new vet, too, in
Eddie Handsome, the newly minted assistant at Varina.
"I think it is an awesome opportunity for the kids because I know myself growing up I
never had a professional athlete or a college athlete come back and give me advice about anything," said Davis, who spent two seasons with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. "I think it is important for us to come out and get into the community, be seen, let them know that they are loved and we are behind them."
College is in front of a lot of them, and though some coaches that confirmed couldn't make it out, a few did from the Division II and III level.
