Despite a late fourth inning comeback, the Gordon Pirates fell short to the Clover Hill Bulldogs in the U-10 girls softball game.
After weeks of watching some of the best high school players in the Central Region, it was time to slow things down a bit and catch some of the local youth clubs in action.

The Clover Hill Bulldogs defeated the Gordon Pirates 15-5 in Sunday's U-10 girls softball game held at L.C. Bird High School.

The Bulldogs, coached by Craig Waters, wasted no time getting onto the scoreboard as they were able to score five runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Four of the Bulldogs runs came off of a Rachel Phillips in-the-park grand slam.

Coach Scott White and his Gordon Pirates managed to score a run in the top of the second but again Clover Hill picked up five more in the bottom half to go up 10-1.

The Pirates were held scoreless in the top of the third inning mostly due to Clover Hill's pitcher Jessica Caminiti, who pitched for five strikeouts with her three innings on the mound.

Clover Hill rallied again in the bottom of the third to score five more runs to go up 15-1 on the Pirates.

In the top of the fourth, it was Gordon's turn to rally.

The Pirates scored four runs but were unable to make the comeback last as the Bulldogs went on to take the win.
