TOMS RIVER -- The running joke is that Raritan's Dan Seidenberg had the easiest final bout of the NJSIAA Region VI Tournament. Of course that was true, since his opponent, Point Boro's Skylar Engelken had to forfeit due to an ankle injury sustained in the semifinals. In his previous two bouts before having his hand raised as region champion, however, the ease with which Seidenberg was victorious was joke.
In the quarterfinals, he defeated St. John Vianney's Mike Kevin by technical fall and then duplicated that feat in the semifinals by defeating Brick Memorial's Mike Kiley, 15-0. This season, Seidenberg has been held to a decision just four times on his way to an undefeated 37-0 record. He also has 111 wins for his career, which puts the junior in great position to become the state's all-time winningest wrestler.
"It's a great feeling to know I'm on top," Seidenberg said. "I just keep working hard and keep plugging away. The ultimate goal is to become a state champion."
