by Aaron Grayagray@digitalsports.comSenior midfielder Sarah Pfundstein scored the lone goal for the
South River High School in its 1-0 victory at Southern in an
Anne Arundel County game Tuesday.
The
No. 14 Seahawks improve to 6-0-1 overall, 4-0-1 in the county.
"Southern came out to play and brought a lot of energy," said South River coach John Sis, who estimated his team took at least 20 shots.
"We did get a goal there and we did a good job of holding the lead but we have to have better composure near the net. we need to get more shots on frame."
A goal scored in the final seconds of the first half was called back because the referee said time had exspired.
"That was a bummer but we kept playing tough in the second half."
Pfundstein's goal was assisted by senior Christine Flannigan. Junior goalkeeper Lyndse Hokanson was credited with four saves.
For
Southern (2-3-1), Cori Karoly tallied eight saves.
The Seahawks, the only undefeated team left in the county, will meet a heady
Northeast squad tomorrow in Edgewater at 5 p.m.
