The high school boys volleyball season has arrived when the top 2 teams in the state meet up.  Undefeated Iolani arrived at Punahou's Hemmeter Fieldhouse with a #1 ranking and looking at the also undefeated Buff N Blu through the net.

Punahou would sweep the Raiders 25-17, 25-21 in front of a near full house filled with both school bands.  The Buff N Blu improve to 6-0 while the Raiders drop to 7-1.

It was the Punahou block that proved to be the critical part of their victory.  Middle blocker lead the team with 12 blocks to complement a balanced 6-2 offensive attack with setters Erik Shoji and Maddison Mckibbin.

Iolani's Brad Lawson was unstoppable hitting from all areas of the court.  He had 17 kills while facing double and triple blocks.  At 6-7, he would just go over the block.

The 2 head coaches, Mike Among for Iolani and Rick Tune for Punahou, both former UH spikers, will meet again at Iolani's home court.  Chances are they will both enter that game ranked #1 and #2 with the top seed for the State Tournament at stake.
