St. John's senior L.J. Hoes hit .524 with 29 RBIs and eight home runs. He also stole 32 bases and had a 1.35 ERA mainly as a relief pitcher.

Player of the Year: L.J. Hoes, St. John’s
A Major League Baseball prospect that will play at North Carolina next year, Hoes hit .524 with 29 RBIs, belted eight home runs and stole 32 bases. He stuck out just four times all year and made just one error in center field. One the mound and mostly in relief, Hoes had a 1.35 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings. He went 2-0 with three saves.

Coach of the Year: Michael Gallagher, Bishop Ireton
In his first year on the job, Gallagher lead the Cardinals to their first-ever WCAC championship game and a 13-13 record. The Cardinals didn’t have many stars but were always competitive. They beat nationally-ranked Paul VI once during the regular season and again in the WCAC semifinals.
