DigitalSports Boys Lacrosse Top 20
Last week was one of upsets.
One of the biggest was on Friday, where defending champion Loyola was upended, 12-9, by Archbishop Spalding, the latter of which earned its first-ever berth into the Maryland Interscholastic Athletc Association A Conference playoffs after wining just one league game last year.
On the same day in the Interstate Athletic Conference, traditional power Georgetown Prep lost, 8-7, in overtime to St. Stephens-St. Agnes, the latter of which avenged an earlier, 11-1 loss to advance in the IAC Tournament playoffs.
In another big win -- but not necessarily an upset -- Good Counsel earned its second win of the season, 10-7, over last year's titlist, St. Mary's Ryken, to advance into Monday night's Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship game opposite DeMatha.
Around the state, the public schools' state tournament has commenced with the regionals in the Class 2A-1A, Class 3A-2A and Class 4A-3A.
Glenelg of Howard County, last year's Class 3A-2A public schools state titlist, is attempting to remain unbeaten and on pace to win the Class 2A-1A crown. Defending Class 4A-3A state titlist Severna Park is looking to repeat.
