It
did not win 14 of 18 events as it did a year ago, but overall the
McDonogh track & field team was even more dominant as it rounded up
180 team points and rolled to yet another win at the IAAM Track Field
Championships, which concluded yesterday at Calvert Hall.
Seton Keough (118 points) was a distant second, John Carroll was third and Mount de Sales was fourth in the 12 team field.
Kristen
Brown (15.87) and Christina Barnett ran 1-2 in the 100 meter hurdles to
get McDonogh off an rolling and Jameice DeCoster (12.11) followed with
a title in the 100 meter dash. DeCoster was also the winner of the 200
meter dash with a time of 24.43 in the finals. In addition, Brooke
Staton (18'-2.25") and Nyerre Osionwan gave McDonogh the top two spots
in the long jump, while Chante Sandiford won the shot put (39'-2") and
discus (121'-3"). Brown then came back to edge teammate Tonamy
Paterakis to win the pole vault, clearing 8'-6" in the final.
The Eagles were also strong in the relays, winning the 4x200 (1:46.57), 4x100 (50.76) and 4x400 (4:05.13).
John
Carroll received two wins from Erika Stasakova, as she won the 1,600
meters (5:12.19) and the 800 meters (2:23.58). Katelynn Colgain,
(11:29.18) in the 3,200 meters, also picked up a win for John Carroll
and Nicole Clarke also helped the Patriots with a third in the 1,600
and a second-place effort in the 3,200.
Other winners included
Notre Dame Prep's Lexi Kauffman, who ran 58.24 in the 400 meters, Bryn
Mawr's Alexandra Tanner (45.97) in the 300 hurdles, Seton Keough's Erin
Brooks (38'-8.75"), Mercy's Marci Bond (5'-0") in the high jump and
Mount de Sales 4x800 relay team (9:57.02).
