The
Mills Godwin Eagles and the
Deep Run Wildcats, will meet in the girls soccer Central Region final on Friday night at
Atlee High School.
This will be the third meeting this year between the two Colonial District rivals.
The Eagles are 2-0 against the Wildcats this year, beating them 3-1 during the regular season and 3-0 in the district title game.
Deep Run Topples TitansDeep Run is coming off of a very impressive 3-1 win over the
Cosby Titans in the first semifinal match on Thursday night.
The Wildcats managed to score two second half goals to give them the win.
Just three minutes into the second half, junior midfielder
Amy Turner found the back of the net to give the Wildcats the lead.
Deep Run scored again with 24 minutes left to play in regulation.
Sophomore forward
Rachel Powers got her name onto the score card, when she was able to deflect a shot into the upper corner of the net giving Deep Run a 3-1 lead.
Cosby created some good opportunities of their own but could not finish.
Freshman sweeper
Chaney LaReau played excellent at the back for the Wildcats as she broke down many of the Titans attacks.

Eagles Take It In Second HalfMills Godwin defeated
James River 2-1 in the second semifinal match.
Both teams were aggressive from the start and created some dangerous opportunities.
The Rapids looked like they were going to take the early lead when junior forward
Felicia Powers headed a cross to the back post but was denied by a diving
Lindsey Rowe who kept the game scoreless heading into halftime.
The Eagles got onto the score board first when a controversial penalty kick was awarded to Godwin 15 minutes into the second half.
Junior midfielder
Anne Lumpkin was fouled in the box and converted on her penalty kick to go up 1-0.
Just minutes later, senior forward
Annemarie Cole blasted a shot from 18 yards out into the goal to increase the Eagles lead to two.
James River found the back of the net a minute later.
Sophomore
Nicole Fulk got onto the end of a long through ball and first timed it past Rowe into the net.
With time running out the Rapids desperately pushed numbers forward in an attempt to tie the game but were denied as the Eagles took the win.
