Teams from New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Pennslyvania competed this past weekend at the USSSA Mid-Atlantic Softball Tournament held at the Ripken Sports Academy in Aberdeen.

Local Maryland teams included HCYP Patriots-Red (Howard County), Westminster Rockets (Carroll County) and the Chuchville Lightning (Harford County).

The Lightning went 2-1 on Saturday and after beating Lehigh Valley Flames 4-2 on Sunday, advanced to the Tournament Quarterfinals.  In the quarterfinals, the Lightning lost another close game to the Midway Orange Crush 3-1, who went on to win the entire tournament.

HCYP Patriots and Westminster each went 0-3 on Saturday and lost in the first round of the playoffs on Sunday.
