Mount St. Joseph's Karl Green, who will be a junior at the Baltimore area private school in the fall, finished third at 285-pounds in Monday's Cadet Greco Roman competition at the University of North Dakota's Fargo Dome in Fargo, N.D.

Green, who earned All-American honors by finishing in the top eight of his weight class, is a defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association and private schools state champion.

Also as reported earlier by DigitalSports, former Magruder High wrestler Helen Maroulis, on Monday, won the 116-pound championship at the Women’s Junior Freestyle Nationals tournament this past weekend at the same venue.

Maroulis, who became Maryland’s first female to twice place at the 4A/3A state tournament this past season, defeated Illinois’ Alli Ragan, 8-0, in the finals match.

Maroulis, 16, will forgo her senior season at Magruder in order to train at the U.S. Olympic Education Center.
