Game Rules And Guidelines

 

6 on 6 two-hand touch football league

15 player roster maximum - 12 man roster minimum

1 quarterback and 5 wide receivers - No lineman

 

 

Time

-16-minutes halves running time switching the sides of the field at half time

-The ball cannot be set-hiked until the official blows the in-play whistle

When the quarterback says set the offense may no longer move

-Stop time starts at the last 2 minutes of the game & the last 30 seconds of the first half

-Every player must play a minimum of 3 minutes per-game

-2 time-outs per half for 35 seconds.

-35 seconds to hike the ball between plays (delay of game)

 

 

Possessions

-1 first down at half field

- A player must have at least 1 foot in bounds after a reception

-There will be no fumbles, only interceptions or over on downs turnovers

-If the carrier fumbles the ball, the play will be whistled dead, and possession goes to the fumbler at the spot of the fumble.

-The ball will be placed on the 10-yard line at the start of every possession, except following an interception. No throw-offs.

-If a team decides to punt and forfit their 4th down attempt, the ball will be placed at the other teams 10-yard line.

-If a team does not convert a first down or a touchdown, the opponent takes possession at the spot of the ball.

-The team captains will decide first possession by a flip of the coin.

-The team that loses the coin toss will choose the side of the field that they would like to defend.

-If a defender prevents a touchdown by any illegal action it is a spot foul and a first down, even if the play happens behind the half field first down marker.

-The game cannot end on a penalty unless the losing team causes it.

-After scoring 6 points on a touchdown the scoring team can choose between-

1 point conversion -  2 yard line

2-point conversion -  10-yard line

 

Blocking

-Contact blocking is not allowed

-A block is attempted by placing your arms in front of your body in a down position, or in a cross position at your chest, while screening your body between the ball carrier and the defender.

-A blocker is not allowed to run directly into the defender.

-The offensive player must stop his block positioning by standing still when the defender is within two feet of the offensive blocker.

 

Offense

-The ball is hiked by touching the ball, and simultaneously saying set-hike after the in-play whistle blows from the head official.

-Every player from the offense must be completely still and behind the line of scrimmage before the quarterback says says-hike.

-The ball cannot be handed-off to a runner within 5 yards of a first down or         a touchdown.

-Only one man can go in motion at a time

- The runner cannot spin in order to prevent their flag from being grabbed.  The runner will be called down at the spot of the spin

-  A runner is responsible for placing his flag in the correct position which is at the hips, if a runner does not have the flags at the correct position they will called down near the first contact with a defender. 

-The quarterback has a 7 second count to throw the ball.   

-Offensive blockers cannot screen block on a pass until the ball has been caught.

-Offensive players cannot have 7 players in the huddle at one time.

-Offensive substitutions must take place near the huddle sight and not on their side of the field

-The offense is responsible for returning the ball to the official after all running plays and completed passes the ball must be handed to the official or a maximum of a 5 yard toss” (Delay of game)

 

 

 

Defense

-No bump and run or any contact with receivers

-No running through offensive blockers

-The Defense is responsible for returning the ball to the official after every incomplete pass.  The ball must be handed to the official after every completed pass or a maximum of a 5 yard toss. (Delay of Game)

-The giver which is the man lined up directly over the ball may not go past the line of scrimmage, or more than 5 yards backwards during a pass play.

-The defender cannot use his hands to get around a block.

 

Coaches

-Coaches must know about all of their players who may need medication during game time, and where the player will keep their medication during game time.

-Coaches can step 5 yards on the playing field to call a play on third and fourth down but cannot talk to an official while calling a huddle.

-Coaches can ask questions about a call, but cannot argue any call at any time.

-Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their own fans, parents, players, etc. (15 yard penalty for conduct that is seen to be disruptive to the officials)

-Coaches must have their team at the game 20 –30 minutes prior to game time, to sign players in, stretching and warm-up drills etc.

-Teams have a 15-minute grace period before a forfeit is called.

-You cannot add a player to a roster after roster has been handed in without the permission of the commissioner.

-Coaches are responsible for making sure their side of the field stays clean.

 

Overtime

-Each team will get a chance to score a touchdown and then convert a 1 or 2 pointer.

-The ball will be hiked at the 5-yard line for only one down for the 6-pointer.

-First team to score the most points after dual possessions wins

 

Players need

Mouth guards, shirts or sweaters without hoods the same color as their jerseys, sweatpants, and sneakers

 

Penalties and Rules

Pass interference (spot penalty first down)

Moving block  (5 yards spot penalty)

Touching a defender during a block (10 yards spot penalty) Play and down counts.

Off sides (5 yards)

False start (5 yards)

Intentional diving (10 yards)

Illegal run within 5 yards of first down and endzone (10 yards)

Unnecessary roughness (15 yards) 2 calls ejection

Spinning- automatically down at the start of the spin

 

-Unsportsman like conduct “no excessive or self celebration” (15 yards and   replay previous down

-Any unnecessary roughness (2) actions deemed dangerous can lead to automatic ejection.  (15 yards)

-2 automatic ejections penalties will lead to league ejection

-No cursing    (15 yard) 2 cursing penalties  (ejection)

-Illegal screen (5 yards)

-Players must jog to the mid-field mark in a straight line and give your

opponent a high-five prior to the start of the game

 

-Teams must clean their side of the field after game

-Participants must carry their personnel medication with them to the game

-All players must wear mouth guards

-Any unforeseen problems, rules, or situations that arise during the season will be taken to the league commissioner for a decision and made a rule for the remaining season.

-Players can talk after the game with their opponents but cannot argue, or brag.
