COLUMBIA, MARYLAND – September 30, 2008 – Baltimore students want more traffic!  DigitalSports®, a national network of local sport communities, connecting athletes, coaches, fans and families, announced today they have partnered with MicroGiving.com to launch The DigitalSports Traffic Challenge.  MicroGiving.com, a Baltimore-based philanthropic marketplace, will provide five area high schools in the DigitalSports network with one thousand dollars each in athletic apparel and/or equipment.

“DigitalSports was founded to shine a spotlight on young athletes and to deliver a positive message about the impact of organized sport on our children,” said Carl Wartzack, Chief Operating Officer of DigitalSports.  “The DigitalSports partnership with MicroGiving.com solidifies our shared belief in the greater good, and we are confident that their philanthropic efforts will have a significant impact on our student-community.”

The event invites guests to surf the virtual communities of all of the Baltimore Digital Sports networks.  The more site traffic in the schools unique online community the better their chances are to win.  The five schools with the highest school page traffic, based on a weighted average determined by the student population will win the athletic gifts from MicroGiving.com.

DigitalSports will be measuring traffic (page views), from September 22, 2008 through December 22, 2008, on all of the Baltimore area DigitalSports high school pages in the DigitalSports network including those in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Cecil County, Harford County and Howard County, as well as all of the private high schools of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland.  School page traffic consists of all page views recorded for the athletic home page, each team page and all schedule and statistical pages on those sites as well.

All students need to do, to help their school win, is to visit their DigitalSports school page, read articles, view schedules and results and watch video. Every page viewed puts that school one step closer to the prize.  Students should also use "email this article" link to tell their friends and family and seek their support for their school.

MicroGiving.com matches people in much the same way as eBay, but instead of bringing together buyers and sellers, it connects donors and recipients.  Its mission is to provide, facilitate and empower individual charitable donations.  They do this by giving their members the ability to pick, choose and give directly to anyone in need; no matter how much money one has to give.

Similarly, the goal of the DigitalSports network is to bring information, tools and services to students, coaches and municipalities across the country.  Therefore, DigitalSports has quickly become the premier source for local sports multimedia, including videos, photos, headlines, stats, standings and other information.
