Bishop Ireton (18-2) earned a # 2 seed in the 2009 Virginia Independent School State Championships.  The Cardinals will host #7 and undefeated Bishop Sullivan from Virginia Beach in Quarter Final play Wednesday May 13th at Fannon Field.  The winner advances to the Virginia State Semi Finals Friday at 3:30.  The Cardinals are on a 15 game winning streak and are 13-0 at home in 2009.  Ireton has also set school records this season for wins, goals and are nationally ranked entering the state tournament.  Reigning state champion St. Stephen & St. Agnes is the tournament #1 seed while Potomac School is the #3 seed and Collegiate School of Richmond claims the #4 slot in the eight team field. 

The winner of the Ireton-Sullivan game will face the winner of the Potomac-Episcopal quarter final on Friday at 3:30PM. 
The Virginia Independent School State Championships are hosted this year at Episcopal High School with the division I and II semi finals set for Friday May 15th and championship games Saturday May 16th.

Ireton has a busy week making their 4th appearance in the WCAC Championship game Tuesday at the University of Maryland’s Ludwig Field.  Game time is 5:30 PM and is a rematch of the 2008 title game with the Falcons of Good Counsel.
