Towson University senior soccer player Pat Healey, a 2004 graduate of Calvert Hall, was named the Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer player of the year, earlier this week.
Healey, who was also a first team All-CAA selection for the second year in a row, is just the fourth player in school history to earn conference Player of the Year honors.
The leading scorer in the CAA, Healey has scored eight goals with nine assists this season. With 25 career goals and 22 assists, he ranks seventh on the Tigers’ all-time points list. He was also named the CAA Co-Player of the Week on October 8, when the senior co-captain led the Tigers to victories over Georgia State and UNC Wilmington. He recorded a pair of assists in a 6-0 win over the Panthers before scoring a goal with two assists in a victory over the Seahawks.
Named to the preseason All-CAA first team, Healey earned All-CAA honors for the third straight year after being named to the second team as a sophomore. “Pat has consistently been a player to be involved in the goal-scoring play this year for our team by either assisting or scoring,” says Towson Coach Frank Olszewski. “He is one of the top midfielders in the CAA and we look for him to lead us on the field each and every game.”
At Calvert Hall, Healey was a two-time All-State pick and he led the Cardinals to MIAA A Conference titles in 2002 and 2003. He scored 32 goals and 31 assists while in high school and his assist total was fourth most in school history.
Towson is 11-7-1 on the season and in the midst of the CCA Tournament. After a win over William & Mary, on Tuesday, the Tigers will face Drexel, on Friday night, in the semifinals.
