After winning their eighth consecutive Baltimore City League crown, the Poly Engineers advanced to the Class 2A North Region final, where they were beaten by Eastern Tech of Baltimore County, 1-0.
"We loaded the bases with no outs in
the bottom of seventh, and were not able to push across the winning run," said fourth-year Engineers' coach Corey Goodwin. "The game ended on a
diving, snow cone catch from the right fielder, and Eastern Tech went on to win the Class 2A state title."
"With a bitter taste in our mouths from last season's one-run loss in the regional final, we know that we have a chance to be there again," Goodwin said. "We don't want
people to think that we are just an average city team. We want this year to be special."
