Ashburn (July 16, 2008) - Broad Run High School senior setter Kristen Burt has verbally committed and accepted an offer of an athletic scholarship to play Division 1 volleyball for the Norfolk State University Spartans starting in the fall of 2009 under the direction of Coach Jennifer Fry.
Burt made her decision after a campus visit and discussions with Fry and her parents, Clinton and Darlene Burt. Burt says she was impressed with the new direction of the team and coach’s passion for academic excellence.
Burt attributes her success to former Broad Run head coach Susan Dezzutti and her Metro American (http://www.mavbc.org/) club coach, former All-American setter Silvia Johnson, who continues to make a significant influence in Burt's life by providing rigorous training and college preparation.

Burt says she looks forward to working with the new Broad Run Head Coach Ellen Roberts in the 2008 high school volleyball season and continued playing and volleyball instruction from club coach Silvia Johnson.
