Energy drinks have grown in popularity in recent years, especially with high school athletes looking for a quick boost prior to competition.  During a recent conversation with Mike Gimbel, Director of Substance Abuse with Sheppard Pratt Hospital, however, DigitalSports learned that these drinks are of very little benefit and can actually be harmful to those who use them.
