The Marriotts Ridge boys lacrosse team takes an unbeaten record of 8-0 -- two more wins than they totaled during all of last season -- into Friday night's game at Howard County rival Atholton.

The Mustangs are 5-0 against league teams.

Leading the way are junior attackman Kyle Williams with 20 goals and 24 assists, followed by sophomore attackman Chris Fischer with 22 goals and four assists, and sophomore attackman James Lindsay with 13 goals and 11 assists.

The Mustangs are also receiving contributions, offensively, from senior midfielder, Danny Incontrera, with 15 goals and eight assists, as well as senior Joon Son with 13 goals, eight assists.

Defensively, James Nies, Matt Tompkins and Matt Leitner lead the way, respectively, with 40, 32 and 28 ground balls.

Dan Schonfeld has 96 saves in seven appearances, an average of nearly 14 stops per outting.

A program in only its fourth year of existence, Marriotts Ridge is coming off of a year during which it went 6-12 overall.

But the season was a promising one, with the Mustangs capturing the school's first-ever regional title by defeating Pikesville of Baltimore County in the Class 2A-1A North Region final.

The Mustangs' season ended, however, in the state semifinal, where the lost, 7-5, to perennial small school power, Parkside of the Eastern Shore.

Coached by Dan Sageman, the Mustangs, for the first time in school history, have a senior classs -- and an experienced one at that.
