I know it's late but the JV football season came to an end on November 1st at Dave kelly Field with a tough one touchdown loss to Unatego. Inclimate weather and snow put a damper on the bulldogs preparations for the final game of the season. The team was forced to remove snow from the field so they could play, two days of practice were lost but even with those issue the team showed up to battle a tough Spartan squad. The day started off rough for the Bulldogs surrendering 2 touchdowns a 1 conversion before the Dawgs began to put together a stiff defense and strong offense. The boys battled back to take a 14-13 lead deep into the 4th quarter with chances to extend the lead over the Spartans. But it was just in the cards for the Bulldogs on Saturday as Unatego scored late and converted the PAT to go up 21-14 with little time left. Delhi was unable to score the equalizer in the end
As a season the boys put together a fine effort, they worked hard every week to implement the game plan the coaches wanted that week at the samw time they overcame injuries and a teammates personal loss. The offense was very balance with close to 2000 yds rushing and over 500 yds passing. Our quarterbacks threw 14 touchdowns and only 3 INT's, great for the JV level. On the offensive line 3 sophmores and 3 freshman blended into a fine blocking group opening up holes for the tandem of Bracci and Telian with a pinch of Cairns and Ellis. The defense pitched 3 shutouts, Thomas, Telian, O'Connell amd Sackett lead the team in tackles while the secondary accounted for 11 INT's. As a defensive group we had a positive turnover ratio having more takeaways than giveaways over the season and also had 19 sacks on the season. Well done boys. As Coaches we look forward to the returning freshmen and the new crop of current 8th graders while wishing the sophmores best of luck on varsity next year. We can't wait to see what happens.
