The seperation at the top of the MIAA A Conference baseball standings widened even more yesterday as the three leaders all won, including Calvert Hall and Archbishop Curley, which each remained unbeaten in league play.
Top ranked Calvert Hall moved to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in the conference with a 9-0 win over St. Paul's, at Calvert Hall. Left-fielder Greg Bryant was 3-for-3 with five RBI and a home run for the Cardinals.
Curley, also 6-0 in the league, rallied for three runs in the top of seventh to prevent Gilman's first leage win of 2008 and escape with a 9-8 victory, at Gilman.
Also yesterday, Kody Hines drove in five runs and Matt Jackson got his third win of the year as Archbishp Spalding trounced Loyola, 13-1, at Blakefield. Eddie Palmer and Aam Summerfeldt had three hits each for the Cavs, who are 5-1 in the A Conference and 16-3 overall.
