Jack Doyle had two goals and three assists, Marcus Holman had two each in goals and assists, Greg McBride scored twice, and Davey Emala had a goal and an assist in Friday's 12-7 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference victory at Mount St. Joseph by Gilman, ranked No. 1 in the DigitalSports-Maryland State Lacrosse Association's Top 20.

The Greyhounds rose to 8-0 overall, and 1-0 in the MIAA's A Conference, while the Gaels slipped to 5-3, 0-1.

After only getting two shots at goal in the first period of the, the Greyhounds showcased their talented defense to the many spectators. The Greyhounds started off the game with six straight goals, building a 5-0 halftime lead.

In the first game at John M. Plevyak Field, the Gaels' refurbished athletic playing facility, the Greyhounds proved to be too much for the Gaels to handle.

The Greyhounds played tough defense and were able to get plenty of shots on goal against Zach Henson (10 saves), the Gaels' sophomore goalie.

While Henson had a good game in goal, so did the Greyhounds' defense in limiting the Gaels in their shooting. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds' offense had plenty of shots on goal.

Junior Chris Costabile led the Gaels with three goals, while seniors Jake Willertz, Dominic Serio and Rod White each had one goal.

The Gaels recently went 2-1 in games during a California road trip. The Gaels, on Tuesday, play host to Loyola, the defending MIAA A Conference champion.

“I’m glad that I played well today, but I really wanted to win this game in front of such a huge crowd supporting us”, said Costabile. “Hopefully, we play hard again and come away with a win against Loyola.”
