Summer wrestlling makes winter champions!!
Even though the official wrestling season is months away you can still find our guys hard at work. Training in the off season has become a must for a team transitioning from Conference B to A. Assistant Coaches are having open mat practices on Tuesday and Thursdays nights starting at 5:30. The workouts include a weight lifting session, drilling and live wrestling.
We should have a strong team this year since we only lost one senior. Everyone is very excited to see how our boys will measure up against teams like McDonogh and St. Joe's. Alot of the boys have competed in off season tournaments, including The National High School Coaches Association National Duals, Mid Atlantic Wrestling Association Eastern Nationals, East Coast Freestyle Duals, Maryland Freestyle State Championships, trips to Kansas City for the Cadet National Duals and the Cadet Nationals in Fargo North Dakota. Taking this team lightly would be a big mistake. These boys come to wrestle and win!!
Keep an eye out for this team and make sure that you check the schedule for an exciting season. We have a full slate of MIAA Conference matches with the addition of two tournaments; the A.I. DuPont Tiger Classic in Wilmington,DE and our very own first ever Cavalier Duals plus a Quad meet in Fairfax Virginia.
The Cavalier Duals is our very own dual meet tournament that we will be hosting Martin Luther King weekend January 17th. We are excited to have several powerhouse teams committed. Delaware's Caravel Academy, Pennsylvania's Pennsbury High School and Oxford High School. Virginia teams, Broad Run from Dulles area, Potomac from the Dumfries area and Norfolk Academy from the southern region and one more yet to commit. We are excited to have this opportunity and look forward to having a great turnout from all you wrestling supporters!
Stay tuned for more information and hope to see you cheering them on this season.
