Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers Boys Tennis defeated the defending MIAA B Conference Champion, Glenelg Country School 4-1 in a much anticipated rematch of the 2008 MIAA B Conference Championship. Spalding Freshman Joey Henault started things off with victory at #2 singles (6-4, 6-1). Senior Sammy Larson, a member of the 2008 MIAA All-Conference team, added a win at #3 singles (6-1, 6-0). Senior Co-Captain, Patrick O'Friel and Junior Benton Davies locked up the match for the Cavaliers with their win (6-0, 6-4) at # 1 doubles. Senior Co-Captain, Stephen Hartig and Junior Matt Laukatis added a win (6-4, 6-1) at #2 doubles. Glenelg Senior and reigning MIAA B Conference Individual Champion, Ryan Kent defeated Spalding Freshman Ryan McFarland (6-0, 6-0) at #1 singles.

 

Following a week of rained-out matches, the Cavaliers returned to the courts with a 4-1 victory over the Annapolis Area Christian School. Ryan McFarland lead the Cavaliers with a (7-6, 6-3) win at the #1 singles spot.  Sammy Larson remained undefeated on the season with a (6-1, 6-3) victory at #3 singles. Patrick O'Friel and Benton Davies dropped the first set of their #1 doubles match, but came back for a decisive (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) victory.  Cavaliers Stephen Hartig and Matt Laukatis added a win (6-3, 6-3) at #2 doubles. Spalding #2 singles, Joey Henault battled in a two hour match before falling in the third set to Annapolis Area Christian Junior Alonzo Mable (7-6, 4-6, 6-2).
 

Head Coach Jim Lopez has the Cavaliers sitting in first place at the midway point of the season. Spalding is poised for a possible first round bye in the Conference Tournament. The remaining schedule includes a match with second place Archbishop Curly that is likely to have tournament implications.
