After many outstanding performances throughout the season, 2 Gowanda wrestlers will be going to the state tournament.  The tournament will be held Friday Feb 27th and Sat. Feb 28th  at the Times Union Center in Albany New York.  The division qualifier was held at Niagara Community College this past weekend.  Aaron Kroll competed in the 285 lb weight class and took home 1st place.  David Richter competed at the 171lb weight class and placed 2nd earning him a return trip to the finals.  The athletes will be leaving on Thursday for Albany.  Wrestling begins with the Grand March on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Also of note Gowanda took 5 wrestlers in total to the state qualifier.  Two have advanced to states and the remaining 3- Brendan Omicioli (103 lb), Joe Stearns (130), and Jake Edington (215 lb) came home with a fourth place finish and received a sectional patch.  Congratulations to these fine wrestlers and the entire team on an exciting season.
