The Falcons reign over the Highlanders is over.

Heathwood snapped a 7-game losing streak to Ben Lippen Tuesday night with a 1-0 win.

The game took place at Stadium Field and was the Highlander's first region home game.

Coach Kevin Graves said it was his defense that led his team to the win.

"The leadership of Junior's Taylor Zurcher and Cole Fowble helped provide a

Shut out," he said. "They rallied the team defensively to diffuse a series of Ben Lippen attacks throughout the second half.

Goalkeeper Carter Genova shared in the responsibility.

Genova stayed busy in the later minutes of the game, blocking numourous shots

To hold off the Falcons.

The lone goal in the game came from a ball intercepted by Connor Kirol.

Kirol dribbled past a defender and passed it off to Kyle Maitland who was responsible for putting it in the back of the net.

The win moves Heathwood to 3-1 (2-0) as they play St. Joseph's in region on Thursday at home at

6:30.

Coach Graves called the Knights' "challenging" but says his squad will be ready.

Heathwood girls lost to Ben Lippen 1-0.

Coach Curtis Player said the game was pretty even, saying most of the game was played in the

Midfield.

Ben Lippen outshot the Lady Highlanders by two and it was enough for one to slip in.

The girls will also host the St. Josephs' Knights. Their game begins at 4:30.
