Hereford's three-time state champion Josh Asper won last weekend's Mount Mat Madness Invitational at 171 pounds, Jeremy  Keil (145) won four of six bouts, and Max Rosen (112) and Sean Gunn (119) also wrestled well at the MMM as the Bulls finished a respectable 16th out of 29 teams.

1. McDonogh
-- The Eagles won their second straight Mount Mat Madness crown, getting their second straight individual title from Nick Schenk (119). Josh Fitch (135) earned his first MMM championship after being runner-up last year, and 285-pound Lane Clelland earned his first tournament crown as a high school wrestler. Their runners-up were Ben Levin (130), Kramer Whitelaw (160) and Alex Pagnotta (189).


2. Southern Garrett -- Pins by state champion George Scheffel (125) and his younger brother, Jakob (130), as well as one by Ryan Bennett (189) paced Southern Garrett County to Thursday night's 39-25 victory over previously unbeaten Mountain Ridge as Southern Garrett remained unbeaten at 8-0.

3. Mount St. Joseph  -- The Gaels of the MIAA's A Conference bounced back from the previous week's loss to Glenelg by finishing sixth at the MMM, getting a title from 112-pound sophomore, Frankie Goodwin, and top six finishes from sophomore 285-pounder Karl Green and senior 152-pounder Bobby Bowman.


4. Glenelg -- Big, big weekend at MMM for the Howard County champion Gladiators, whose 152-pound Tim Chase was named MMM's Outstanding Wrestler, with a runner-up finish from state runner-up Brian Marxoux (125), and third place finishes from state runners-up Danny Bichner (135) and Chris Stinnett (140).


5. LaPlata -- The two-time defending Class 4A-3A state dual meet champs of Charles County had top six placewinners at MMM in third-place finisher Alex Ingagliato -- a 215-pound sophomore, no less -- and state runner-up Tanner Shaffer (145) and Brent Mowry (152).


6. DeMatha -- Those Stags of Hyattsville and the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference will be the likely front-runners entering this weekend's Arundel Duals, led by their two tournament placewinners, 140-pound Matt Dugan and 189-pound Mike Aguggia.


7. North Carroll -- Led by state runner-up Jason Thomen, the Panthers, in the wake of their championship at the recent Franklin Tournament, are gearing up for the second half of the season and runs at their respective Carroll county, Class 4A-3A North Region and Class 4A-3A state dual and tournament titles.


8. Urbana -- Those Hawks of Frederick County won last weekend's Springbrook Tournament, with Adam Krop (112), Billy Hering (125) and Steven Edmands (160) earning crowns. They'll be in Howard County on Thursday as unbeaten Krop, a third place state finisher, perhaps meets River Hill's state champ Scott Mantua.

9. Archbishop Curley -- These MIAA A Conference stalwarts finished a respectable 14th at last weekend's MMM Invitational, and private schools state titlist Tyler Scarinzi (125) is gearing up for the second half of his season.


10. Stephen Decatur -- Coach Kevin Gilligan and fifth-ranked 135-pounder Skylar Snead and fifth-ranked state champion Danny Miller (189) of Berlin, Maryland, will be in town for Friday and Saturday's 16-team Arundel Duals Invitational, as will DeMatha, Hereford and Loyola.


11. Hereford -- During his title-winning effort at last weekend's MMM, three-time state champion Josh Asper (171) ran his record to 17-0 on the year, his winning streak to 67 straight bouts, and his career record to 131. Overall, the Bulls firmly established themselves as Class 4A-3A state title contenders.


12. Old Mill -- Those Patriots of Anne Arundel County got top six placefinishes at Mount Mat Madness from Ron Vaughters and Arron Hawkins at 112, and, 285-pounds, respectively, and play host to Wednesday's big tri-meet featuring unbeaten league rivals Northeast and Chesapeake.


13. Mountain Ridge -- Although Mountain Ridge lost its dual meet to Southern Garrett on Thursday, the once-beaten team still boasts state runner-up Stephen Whetstone, who ran his record to 24-0. In addition, Noah Devore bumped from 215-to-285 to beat Southern Garrett's state runner-up Sean Sisler.


14. John Carroll -- The Patriots' of Harford County contiinue their roll. They continue to be a factor in the coming MIAA's A Conference tournament, led by sophomore Matt Miller and junior Ethan Reese at 145, and, 189, respectively.


15. Owings Mills -- Those Eagles of Baltimore County, led by unbeaten state champ Tony Mack (160) and regional champs, Avi Friedman (103) and Cody Rosen-Stone (140) remain a threat to dethrone Hereford as county dual meet and tournament titlists.


16. Rising Sun -- State champion Matt Jackson was a runner-up at last weekend's Mount Mat Madness Invitational, tying the Cecil County all-time career victories mark of 132, and once-beaten teamamate Danny Cox (160) was third at MMM at 160 pounds.


17. Atholton -- The Raiders of Howard County are fresh off of their runner-up finish to Urbana at last weekend's Springbrook turney, getting titles from Malcolm Stennett (189), Mike Massarelli (215) and Brian Nance (285).


18. South Carroll-- Led by state champ Cam Hobin (119), state runner-up Tyler Mullen (171) and third-place state finisher Zac Stavish (160), the Cavaliers of Carroll County defeated Winters' Mill tournament titlist Westminster, and lost a naibiter to DeMatha of Hyattsville.


19. River Hill -- State titlist Scott Mantua's Hawks of Howard County will meet the Hawks of Urbana on Thursday, potentially setting up a 112-pound rematch of last year's state quarterfinal matchup won by state champion Scott Mantua of River Hill over Urbana's third-place state finisher Adam Krop.

20. Loyola -- The Dons of the MIAA's A Conference are led by 145-pound, unbeaten defending MIAA A Conference champion Colins Schuster, who will lead them into Friday and Saturday's difficult, 16-team Arundel Duals.
