Senior guard Joey Badawi scored 12 points. including a tie breaking three-pointer with 26 seconds remaining in regulation as Hereford High edged No. 8 Woodlawn, 48-47, in a Baltimore County 3A/4A boys' basketball match in Parkton Monday evening.

Badawi's shot broke a 44-44 tie, then Woodlawn missed on its ensuing possession, and fouled Digges Bosley. Bosley hit one of two free throws for a four-point advantage before the Warriors hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.

"We did a great job until Woodlawn really picked up its pressure," said Hereford coach Jim Rhoads. "We were really disappointed about the loss to Dulaney [Friday evening], and the kids were a little down."

The Bulls bounced back in a big way as senior guard Sam Sarris and Bosley, a senior forward, each had 11 for the Bulls (12-6 overall, 6-2 in 3A/4A), who built a 27-21 advantage enroute to handing Woodlawn (12-4, 7-1) its first league loss. The Warriors now have a half-game lead over Milford Mill (6-1 league), which hosts Franklin Wednesday.

Senior guard Keon Bennett led Woodlawn with 14 points as leading scorer Darius Nesmith was held to eight. The Bulls travel to Kenwood Wednesday evening.

Owings Mills 66, New Town 55

Andrew Fitzgerald scored 15 points and Michael Kleeman contributed 12, leading Owings Mills past New Town in a Baltimore County 1A/2A contest. The Eagles (13-3, 6-1) avenged a 69-64 loss to the defending Class 1A state champ Titans early last month.

Mark Evans and Karron Hunter had 10 points for Owings Mills, which gained sole possession of second. The Eagles have home dates with Overlea Wednesday evening and defending county champ and No. 3 Randallstown Friday.

Junior guard Stuart Clarke led all scorers with 20 points for New Town (10-7, 5-2) and Kendrick Brown had 18. The Titans travel to Eastern Tech Wednesday evening.

Junior forward Mike Holden scored 30 points, and Keith Holtman added 13, leading Eastern Tech (6-10, 4-4) past Western Tech in a 1A/2A match in Catonsville.  Donzel Mooney led Western Tech (4-13, 2-6) with 25 points, and Patrick Gilreath had 10.   

The Mavericks host New Town Wednesday while Western Tech.
