In the first inning of Saturday's WCAC baseball semifinal game against DeMatha, St. John's catcher Drew Farber suffered a double compound fracture of the fibula and tibula in his right leg. Arteries in the leg were also severed on the play at the plate. Farber was treated on the field by emergency personnel and taken to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda where he underwent surgery that night.

According to Farber's father, Drew was released at noon on Friday and is doing well. The doctors expect him to make a full recovery and Drew hopes to be back behind the plate for St. John's at the start of next season, which will be his junior year.
